Method of aging
Champagne spends at least 5 years in the bottle on its lees (by law, vintage champagne is required to be aged for 3 years).
Mode of production
Champagne is produced using the traditional method (secondary fermentation occurs in the bottle). Lanson never uses malolactic fermentation for its wines, which preserves the pristine richness of flavor and aroma, while the high acidity enhances the wine's development potential.
History of the label
In 1798, Nicolas-Louis Delamotte, a Knight of the Sovereign Order of Malta and the youngest son of François Delamotte (founder of the House of Lanson), adopted the Maltese cross as the House's symbol. The stylized Maltese cross, featured on Lanson champagne bottles today, demonstrates the House's respect for its history. The British Royal Coat of Arms on the Lanson bottle's collar symbolizes the House's status as the official supplier to the Royal Court.
